Sleep Innovations Shiloh 12-inch Memory Foam Mattress Review

First, we’re going to start with its name, maybe history. Sleep Innovations has changed marketing strategy since we find they gave new different names to their memory foam mattresses. Sleep Innovations Shiloh is exactly Sure Temp 12 inch. Previously all their mattresses are all named Sure Temp so you will find many old Shiloh 12-inch reviews mentioned Sure Temp. OK let’s get back to the mattress. Sleep Innovations Shiloh 12-inch is a thick mattress with 9.5 inch support base and 2.5 inch comfort layer. That’s not much foam for such thickness foam mattress so you could expect lightly cradling comfort. It’s better suited for bigger body than slender because it provides enough support and just right comfort. It has other benefits like limited motion delivery, natural spine alignment, etc.

What features Sleep Innovations Shiloh 12-inch memory foam mattress has

Medium to firm

Sleep Innovations states in the description it has a medium firmness. Actually, it’s more like medium to firm. When you first lay down on it and your whole body is stretched out, you will feel yourself sink in a little bit then stop. According to our investigation, compared to similar height memory foam mattress of other brands, Sleep Innovations is always firmer than most. If you want a plush soft mattress, look further. However, the unreinforced edges lack support and if you sit on the edge you will slide off. And you should know that it will become softer after years of use.

Good for bigger body

As we mentioned above, 2.5 inch memory foam on top isn’t much for 12-inch height but just right. Thinner top layer doesn’t offer cradling comfort and thicker may make heavy persons bottom out. 2.5-3 inch is good enough to provide average and bigger body with even support without bottom out feeling. Petite body under 120 pounds may not get cradling experience because they’re too light to squeeze the foam.

Comfort and back pain

Sleep Innovations Shiloh 12-inch will conform to each part of your body like shoulders, back, hips, elbows and even ankles, and give enough support they need. That’s why many owners reported their back problems improved after several nights.

Price

Sleep Innovations is an affordable brand targeting cheap memory foam mattress market. Although it’s one of cheapest brands out there, it’s still a great deal considering it’s made in USA. It costs nearly 20% of name brands but give similar experience you can’t tell the difference. Why spend thousands if we can get for a few hundred dollars.

Problems that aren’t a big deal

Bad smell

Some owners complained Sleep Innovations Shiloh came with strong odor but some other didn’t notice. If you have a sensitive nose, you may notice the smell but it’s not a big deal. It will help to leave the mattress alone with windows open for a few days.

Heat

You could expect a bit more warmth on this mattress because it doesn’t apply any cooling technology like gel foam. It’s also related to personal nature. If you’re a hot person, you may feel over-warm. But adding a mattress pad can lower temperature to moderate levels.

What real issue this mattress has

Slow response

Due to memory foam characteristics, it regains its shape slowly after conform to your shape. So that would make changing position or getting out of bed more difficult. It’s not an issue for normal persons but could be a problem for disabled people.
